Palaghat district is known for good Paddy
fields. The main cargo transportation was by Bullock Carts
for many decades. There were bullock cart races, cattle
markets. Carts and cattle had an important role in village
economy. Cattle were looked after very well. The villages
around had a tradition of passenger bullock carts called
"Savari Vandi". It was considered to be the prestige of the
family to own a passanger cart with good cattle. |
| But, now trucks and tractors replace the
carts and cattle. The demand for the Cargo cart being less,
the farmers are unable to keep the cattle and the 'Savari
Vandi. We offer a unique "Savari Vandi"
for comfortable journey and sight seeing. It is eight feet
tall. One-foot high windows on both sides assure 360-° view
to all sides. Interior is 5 feet high. The cart has 20
square foot area to sit or even lie back. |
