  • Visits to near by temples like Kunakudi, Nemam, and Pillayarpetti.
 
  • Visit to the Chettinad Palace which is located just behind Chettinadu Mansion.
  • Visit to the weekly local Chettinad shandies, where one can get an idea about local marketing skills of the village folk and view the colourful arrangement of vegetables, fruits, snacks, chettinad baskets, and other rural produce, and may be pick up some items at throwaway prices.
 
  • Visit to the Athangudi Tiles factory, and basket making cooperative units.
  • Shopping trip to Karaikudi where Antiques, chettinad saris, and silver wear are available.
  • Visit to the sari weaving center at Karaikudi.
 
  • Visit to Tirumayam fort, about 10 km away from Chettinadu Mansion.
  • From 5.45 to 6.45 pm the 2 mango trees in the garden fill up with birds returning home to nest for the night, and the entire garden is filled with the Music of Kannadukathan. This is to be heard to be believed.
 
  • Visit the Chettinad Museum within the Mansion.
